Kim McElroy – Spirit of the Horse

When we were in Canada in 2008, we came across a bookshop.

We went in to have a look around and I saw a book. On the front cover there was an illustration of a horse, but not just any illustration. It had been drawn with such skill and it was beautiful!

I got the book for Christmas and  I was so excited! It had lots of illustrations that were just magnificent. The artist's name was Kim McElroy. I had a look for her website and found it!

I looked at all her drawings and her products. I found a particular book that looked really special. It was a book with 40 chapters and 40 cards each with an illustration. Each card corresponds to a chapter of the book; 40 and 40!

So I put this on my goal board for 2009. At Christmas after I opened all of my presents, I was given one more. It was hard and quite big.

I opened it to find a cardboard box; I still had no clue what it was. Then i pulled it out. there it was, the book and cards!

I asked my mum and dad how they got them and I was so amazed! my mum had actually contacted them and they had sent it to me from America, (and I live in Australia), just intime for Christmas.

Kim McElroy had even signed the book and another piece of paper. It is so special to me! ! can still keep in touch with her and her husband through email, which is good, and maybe someday I will meet her! that would be a dream come true.

But seriously, most of her drawings look so real! I've never seen horses drawn like that before!
