Back in Perth with Herbie the Pony

I am now back in Perth and going to a new school that I really love.

I have had one term at Avonlea already, so I've seen Herbie. I also met the two new horses called Amber and Hope, and Demi's new foal called Sox.

I met two girls at Saturday Saddle Club, and their names were Hannah and Liberty. I really like them. Next term I will have my best friend, Isabella, at Saturday Saddle Club as well, so I'm really excited.

Last term I had a fabulous teacher, Carla. I learned lot's of stuff that I hadn't known about before, like how to canter and Diagonals.

To warm up before our lesson we would do 3 exercises on horseback. They really helped your seat in the saddle.

Once, we did trotting without stirrups. I was nervous, because the last time I'd done it I had fallen off because I was trying to keep my balance.

But this time I was confident and I did a lap of the arena trotting without stirrups!

It was actually a bit scarier than standing up on a horse, but I did it.

Herbie's been a good boy. In the morning he's very good and when I feed him and groom him he doesn't nip, but when I'm trying to tack him up or I'm about to mount, he tries to nip me. But of course, I still love him and I know he's just being the cheeky pony that he is.

  3. I guess riding without stirrups is kinda hard, but since my coach makes me do it every time, I can now trot without stirrups easily for a long time without my calves hurting! Now I’m starting to canter without stirrups! Well, see ya! I hope I can meet you sometime! Cool that you have a website…

when my family and freinds come along to watch me ride ( they are not horsey people at all ) they always say eww it stinks around here. horse poop smells good
    well i reckon it does

PS my lil sis rides herbie

  9. Hey Sylvie,

Yeah, I knew. It was so sad. He was such a cute pony, a big teddy bear.
Everytime Izzy and I arrived we would go and say hello to all of the horses and ponies and on that day we were looking for Golly, but then we found out.
Yeah, I agree. Tazzy is very cheeky.
A friend of mine rides him I think. Tanya.

I remember the first time I went to Avonlea my Nana and Dadas took me. My youngest cousin Annabel came along and she didnt like the flies and the smell too.
Well, I mean everyone doesn’t like flies, especially when you are riding.
Izzy, my best friend, will be going on a trail ride soon so if you are there you might see each other.
Tell your lil sis that she is very lucky to ride such a cheeky and funny pony. He really is a cute character.

    Love Sasha

  10. hi sasha

i remember my first time i went to avonlea
i was 9 when i first went and i was supposed to be riding abby but then they found out that i was the oldest and my sister was the youngest (she was about 6 then but now shes 8 )
so they put me on belle and from that day on i was completely in love with her.
one day after i had known belle for about 18 months i went there for my lesson. as i was walking in i was looking at all all of the horses but none of them were belle so i went and asked my old riding instructor cecil. and thats when i found out that she had past away
i was pretty much crying all day.

sometimes i think of her in heaven galloping through the clouds and i know that she is much happier to be there then here

    rest in peace bella

  11. Hi Sylvie,
Belle was a lovely horse. She was so sweet :)
i remember the day i found out :( every time me and my best friend would arrive we would go and say hello to every single horse. When we couldn’t see belle there we then saw up on the board that she had passed away. Same with Golliwog. I was really sad. He was so cute! :)
Did you ever meet a horse called Gabby? i loved her, but they sold her really quickly. i was so sad:(
