How www.horseobsession.com came about...

When our daughter Sasha was four years old and in kindergarten, her love for horses started. We lived near horses in a semi-rural area and a local winery/cafe in the Swan Valley in Western Australia had pony rides, which she loved.

Horses were always Sasha's favourite thing to draw and with her friends at school, she enjoyed trotting around at playtime, like a horse!  Unfortunately, Sasha's kindegarten teacher at the time was unimpressed and one day after school said that we needed to try and "curb this horse obsession".   Really...!!??  We prefer to think of Sasha's love of horses as a passion, and we say if you are passionate about something and it's not hurting someone else, go ahead and enjoy!  Many educational experts would also agree that using a child's passion in a student-centred learning approach is an ideal way to engage in optimal learning (for example, we have all met kids who supposedly can't read or spell but love dinosaurs and can spell long and difficult names of dinosaurs!)

So....tongue in cheek a little, this site is dedicated to all the "horse obsessed" out there...or those who have a passion for horses and like to share and celebrate everything about horses.

In our 6 months of travels as a family in 2008, we saw lots of horses along the way, did a few trail rides and have quite a number of nice pics to share.  It was a great family project to put this site together.  We had fun and hope that you enjoy it too.
